PM2.5 Active Carbon filter

At Hitachi, we have developed high performance PM2.5 Active Carbon filter to fight pollutants and keep your indoor air clean and healthy.

The air you breathe at home matters

51%[1] of people worldwide live in areas where fine particulate PM2.5 pollution surpasses the highest risk limit established by World Health Organization[2]. PM2.5 is now considered the pollution with the largest impact on health globally[3].

At Hitachi, we have developed high performance PM2.5 Active Carbon filter to fight those pollutants and keep your indoor air clean and healthy.

A small particle, a big matter

Why do we call them PM2.5? “PM” means “particulate matter,” and 2.5 refers to their tiny size—particles that are 2.5 micrometers (µm) wide or smaller, so small that they can enter in your lungs. As a reference, average human hair is 70 times wider than a PM2.5 particle!

Short-term exposure to PM2.5 can cause eye, nose, throat, and lung irritation, coughing, sneezing, and shortness of breath. Over time, breathing these particles can lead to serious health issues like lung disease and even reduce life expectancy.

airHome with PM2.5 Active Carbon filter can remove 99% of PM2.5 pollution in the room

airHome range is designed to bring you cleaner, healthier indoor environments. Using The PM2.5 Active Carbon air purifying filter is a powerful tool to improve your indoor air quality. Made with activated carbon material, it gently purifies the air while preserving airHome’s cooling or heating performance.

To demonstrate its effectiveness against PM2.5 particulate pollution, a Hitachi air conditioner equipped with PM2.5 Active Carbon air purifying filters and a Stainless pre-filter was placed in a in 25m3 room[4] .

After 300 minutes of cooling operation, the quantity of PM2.5 particulate matters in the room had decreased by 99%!

In addition to this outstanding PM2.5 removal effect, the PM2.5 Active Carbon air purifying filter has demonstrated a 78% removal of OCs (Volatile Organic Compound) a common source of allergy-like symptoms, along with long-lasting antimicrobial, antiviral, and deodorizing effects(5).

How does the PM2.5 Active Carbon filter work?

Activated carbon is a processed material, made to be extremely porous, resulting in a huge absorption capacity. Fun fact: 1 gram of activated carbon can offer a surface area as large as several tennis courts! As the air flows through, harmful gas molecules, odors, and particles are trapped in the material’s pores and removed from the airstream.

This way, Active Carbon helps remove VOCs emitted by household products, paints, cleaners, and building materials. VOCs can cause irritation, headaches, and other complications.

How to use airHome and PM2.5 Active Carbon filters to purify the air?

Use your airHome equipped with PM2.5 S Active Carbon filters normally. In addition to bringing the perfect temperature, airHome will improve your indoor air quality and reduce the fine particulate matters in your room.

In case you don’t need cooling or heating, you can still turn on your airHome unit in fan mode, to circulate the air and benefit from the Active Carbon filter’s air purifying effects unnoticeably.

For best results, regular maintenance is important: clean the pre-filter periodically – without water – and replace the PM2.5 Active Carbon filter with new one every year to optimize air purification.

Understanding how this air purifying tech will improve your life is crucial. This is why we are committed to developing advanced solutions to preserve your indoor air quality, providing real benefits beyond temperature control. airCloud Go maintenance issues

Dear airCloud Go users,

We apologize as the app is experiencing technical issues due to recent updates.

1. If your Hitachi unit appears offline on your app
We recommend turning off your Hitachi unit and switching it back on. Repeat a few times if necessary, it should reconnect your Hitachi unit to airCloud Go.
You don’t need to delete and re-install the app or try pairing your Hitachi unit again.
NOTE: Power off/on means disconnecting and reconnecting the electric power supply to the unit, not only turn off with the remote control. To switch off you can use your electric board switch.

2. If your Hitachi unit appears offline for Google Home voice command
We are currently working on a fix for that issue. In the meantime we recommend using the airCloud Go app or the physical remote control of the Hitachi air conditioner.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
